DISCOVERING THE DIFFERENCES OF TONER
by Kira Morse
http://www.roptoner.com

Toner, used for a copy machine within the home or office,
comes in two basic options - black and white, and color.
Regardless of the option chosen, the purpose of toner is to
produce images on paper or other materials. The process
involves the toner becoming embedded onto the intended
paper or material through a fusing process. To make sure
the toner stays, high heat and pressure is used. Keep in
mind that each photo copier is a little different although
the results are much the same.

All copiers use toner to produce copies, but you simply
can~t use any kind of toner in a copier. You must use the
right type of toner for the equipment. If you use the
wrong toner in a copier, you will either end up with
horrible printing (at best), but possibly damage your
copier. This damage could be hundreds or even thousands of
dollars in repair costs. Read the directions for the
copier and always follow the manufacturer~s recommendations
when replacing toner.

All copiers and toners function in the same way. The toner
is electrostaticly charged, either positively or
negatively. The charge level varies by copier model.
Various types of toner differ in their consistency levels.
Most of the older copier models require a liquid toner,
while the more modern copiers require a dry or powdery type
of toner. On a rare occasion, you may find a copier that
will use both types of toner. Most toners are produced
with a specific model number, which helps you determine if
it will work for your brand of copier. Many suppliers
offer customers bulk discounts when they buy toner in large
supplies. If you have room for storage and want to save
money, this may be the best option for you.

Another important aspect to consider when buying toner is
the convenience and ease of use. Some of the older models
of copiers require you to pour toner powder from a bottle
into the copier. This can be an incredibly messy process.
Some of the newer copiers simple use a toner cartridge, you
merely replace the entire cartridge with a new cartridge,
all the toner is contained inside. Replacing the toner is a
fast and simple process when using cartridges, and many
supply stores will recycle your old cartridge. If you are
looking at a new copier, always try to find a model that
makes replacement of toner as painless as possible.

Different toner manufacturers employ their own quality
standards, so you need to be aware of that when you shop.
The best strategy is to buy toner from a supplier
recommended by the copier maker. In doing that you will
guarantee that you always purchase the right product for
your machine. It may cost a bit more, but you won~t be
spending money to have your copier repaired due to a poor
quality toner.
